i am not religious about it - it is just that many ppl coming from 
things like Visual Basic have never learnt to code at all - which 
results in inability to fine tune their apps. This happened to me 
at the start, not only in coding, but also in sysadmin and database 
admin work, so i make sure i dont revert to those practices and 
advise beginners to start with the command line and then go on to 
using ides to make things easier.
