I've been using Eclipse for a Django project and have found it very usable with PyDev and an eclipse html editor plugin I forget the name of. I don't really get the whole argument about it being more "removed from code". I can still run and debug code, but I get the added benefit of a single workspace (and among other things nice graphical diff support)
