Python 2.5 was one of the easier things to retrofit for Solaris 8. I haven't tried Ruby, that's someone else's pet project. :) That said, I may have an easier time wrapping my head around this kind of thing; I've never had the nightmares other people have reported over porting stuff to e.g. AIX.
