I use Mercurial in a similar situation as you. I used to use svn but
found the benefits of Mercurial overwhelming. I use it for system
configs, use the distributed part to ensure that we have backup copies
around, and my developers use it also.

Anyone new to Mercurial or coming from svn should take a look at Joel
Spolsky's awesome and succinct Mercurial tutorial:
