It's been a while since I've had to do this, but the main advantage
for me was the ease of installation.  I think they give you an MSI,
which lets you push it easily to other machines if you need to.

The other alternative for me was going with Cygwin; I love it, but its
lack of proper package management always frustrated me.  It may be
different now, and you may find that the other things Cygwin comes
with (bash, awk, Emacs, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, X11...) are good to have
as well.
