I had similar questions about the long-running unmatched requests. I would
suggest that after a certain length of time, someone reach back out to the
original requester and coach them through developing a mentor request. They may
have provided a specific project because they were trying to develop a certain
skill, but the specific project they've listed isn't in anyone's wheelhouse
while the skill development might be.
