Hi - It may be way overkill for what you're after but since the only other contribution was Jason's recommendation for the JUNOS Enterprise Switching book (which *is* a good book but still vendor-specific) you might consider the recently-published (November 2011) TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1, Second Edition: The Protocols (Kevin R.
