A suggestion that we test it ourselves to see how it behaves, instead of trying to choose which of many conflicting sources to arbitrarily believe without question, is not the same as "buying into the hype".
I remember issues arising years ago when LILO was replaced with grub, and I believe we had a couple attendees at an Installfest whose machines we couldn't get working because we had no prior experience with grub at the time. Had some of us done a grub- based install prior to the Installfest, I'm confident that failure would not have occurred.
