Calling all GNU Radio Users, Enthusiasts and Developers, the GNU Radio Project is considering to apply for this years’ Google Summer of Code. This is a great opportunity to improve current and future pieces of our framework and additionally introduce new students to our project. If you haven’t heard of Google Summer of Code: It is a program running between the end of May and mid-August and allows students (globally) to apply and contribute to an open-source project while getting some monetary compensation through Google Open-Source.
In order to have a successful application we need to show some good ideas and a list of possible mentors which can support a student during this time. Please have a look at the current ideas list https://wiki.gnuradio.org/index.php?title=GSoCIdeas and the old ideas list https://wiki.gnuradio.org/index.php?title=OldGSoCIdeas and think about if you are able to provide an additional idea and you have some capacity to mentor a student between May and August. During the mentorship you should be able to provide feedback in a weekly meeting and have additional capacity to do some async/offline feedback during the week to help figure out issues. If you have a good idea but you are unsure if you have the time and/or proficiency to mentor, please contact me. We are required to provide two mentors for each student, therefore some experienced mentor will help you with the organizational stuff, technical expertise and we will be able to work out vacation/travel abscence. In any case, if you add an idea please let me know. Also, if you have any questions. Cheers, Andrej -- Andrej Rode Member of the GNU Radio Project https://www.gnuradio.org
