Has anybody looked at constructing an SDR receiver (or even transceiver) at a repeater location (e.g. mountain top) and then streaming the digital data down to local users over microwave?
For bands that can be fully covered by a single device (e.g. 2m is 4MHz wide) it would appear to be possible for multiple users to share the same receiver and each user would be able to select the mode and frequency they are interested in.
