Answer: This was my subtle coding error. I left the empty parens out of the XML file's 'make' entry (last line below). File: my_oot_my_block.xml <block> <name>my_block</name> <key>my_oot_my_block</key> <category>my_oot</category> <import>import my_oot</import> <make>my_oot.my_block</make> <- Forgot () after the name.
