I couldn't see how to reply. But, looking at it again this morning, and
taking onboard something said to me yesterday, I now realise that I was
wrong to criticise that aspect of the phone. In fact, if I think back to
other times, it can be quite advantageous to have the design as it is
now.

Perhaps I should explain those things.

First, the explanation given to me last night. The prospective
purchaser described to me the notion of 'breadcrumbs' i.e. the dots at
the top of the screen indicating more options either side. So looking
at those I could see that there was an option to the right. At first
when I was presented with the contacts page for my wife, I thought the
phone had gone wrong as I expected to be offered a 'reply' button rather
than a straight 'Send SMS' option but that leads me on to part two. In
the past, when somebody has sent me a text I have then wanted to call
them rather than reply by SMS. So the current design has saved me from
having to go to the Contacts/People app to find their details.

It's not obvious when you're already annoyed as you tend to overlook
the obvious and I'm afraid I far too readily get annoyed with the phone
at the moment because it isn't like my previous phone. You'll have to
put that down to my intolerance, lack of patience or whatever else you
want to call it. I am learning to use it and as I said above, it can
save me time.

But I can't go without complaining about something ;-)

The distinction between the two types of message - sent and received -
is IMHO too great. I'd like that to be tweaked somehow to make the sent
texts slightly nearer the colour of the received texts.

Also, I'd like the sort to be reversed. Following the logic of the
'running apps' page, the latest app to be used appears at the top left
and if I put something into a box, it appears at the top. So I'd like
the sort to be organised so that the latest text is at the top rather
than at the bottom? Rather than impose my wishes on everybody else as
plainly my views are quite at odds to most people, this ought to be a
config option.

Oh, and in future, perhaps I should consider my replies more carefully
in future before shouting about the design ;-)
