As of moments ago, openssl has been updated to 4.0.1 in rawhide, and 734
packages rebuilt with it:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-54c7ad647e
Due to the size of the update, some tests were unable to run. However,
we were able to verify that dependencies are clean, and most OpenQA
tests are green.
OpenQA did uncover one tricky bug in httpd and/or freeipa that we were
unable to fix in time:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2490607
The freeipa tests have been made non-gating in rawhide pending a fix,
but this remains a (proposed) Beta blocker, since they are normally gating.
Some packages failed to rebuild with openssl 4.0, and some were
deliberately skipped for various reasons. An openssl3 compat package is
now available for those packages which have yet to be rebuilt, but it is
officially deprecated(), and you should work to make such packages
compatible with openssl 4.0 in the near future.
A full list of incompatible changes can be found at:
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/releases/tag/openssl-4.0.0
Please note that *all* packages will be rebuilt in rawhide as part of
the forthcoming F45 mass rebuild, so if your package is not yet
compatible with openssl 4.0 and do nothing by then, you will receive a
F45FTBFS bug.
Thank you to those maintainers who fixed and/or built their packages in
the side tag, and who otherwise held of on updating their packages while
we were working on landing this. Your patience is appreciated, and
builds may resume normally now.
On behalf of the OpenSSL40 change owners,
