Also: - EFI has to be vfat anyways. - ext2 (with journalling on) gave me too many headaches to consider it superior in terms of stability; btrfs has been a much better experience. - Given the limitted size of /boot, it would be easily feasible to keep a dd image just in case (on the root file system, assuming a recovery option which could be a live usb with a "rescue/chroot" entry"). Come to think of it: We may want thos for EFI as well.
