As I read the roadmap (and I am not going
to claim I read it correctly, or that it has not
changed since I did), technically, X11
support is being deprecated for the gnome
49 release, and not completely removed
until the gnome 50 release (it was not clear
to me what removed means in this context).

I suppose, should someone choose to
do so, a packager could create an
entire gnome-x11 package set which
conflicts with gnome (to avoid installing
different parts of different packages)
just for the F43 release cycle, and after
that, should they wish to do so, fork
gnome and continue independent X11
support for gnome-x11 or F44 and
beyond (for which gnome 50 will probably
be in the distro). If that approach appeals
to some people they probably need to
start assembling their team and getting
the work started rather than suggesting
someone else should do so,
