Many projects have a packit config like "build for rawhide, f41, f40"
and of course that gets out of date at branch time.
To my knowledge, there is no automatic "follow branching" possible.
If configured properly the versions would not be in the `.packit.yaml`.
Instead it would be aliases like `fedora-all`/`fedora-latest`. With F42
it was a bug on `fedora-distro-aliases` when the branch entered `frozen`
[1], which was fixed since then.
