Updating and loading repositories: Repositories loaded. 5001 ~~~If it is, then it is 20 % of Fedora packages (I have 24386 .spec files from not so old [1] laying around) . If nothing else, I can say ~350 (out of 450) of Ruby packages (i.e. 1.4% of all packages) were not needed to rebuild for the toolchain update.

but that's beside the point, because the discussion is not just about GCC, it's about all major toolchain updates before a mass rebuild.I would reword this goal as "have everything rebuilt with the new toolchain to incorporate optimization, security and diagnostics improvements". Users care about it as much as they would care about clean drinking water, i.e. it is taken for granted.Sid
