Are there replacements for the old services built in to xinetd? It's a surprise, but there are still network devices for service provider networks that want to use time and/or daytime to set their clocks at boot (so $DAYJOB still has to provision servers with those services enabled on private networks occasionally). Yes, I know it is 2020, and all about NTP and such... but I don't write the firmware in those devices.
