Going unsupported upstream is not the end of the world.
If we keep 50.x for a few days, worst case scenario is to have to address
a fresh critical security vulnerability and then you have two
possible option:
1) rush to 51.x (with good reason, this time)
2) backport any fix to 50.x even if upstream does not (this was once normal way
to maintain packages)
