Even for projectors it would be rather easy since video organisations (SMPTE, THX, ISF, etc) publish strict guidelines on the optimal viewing distance to use in common video modes, and any pro or semi-pro setup will honor them. Just Google "smpte projector distance" they're hardy top secret.
