Talking about banks who make things inherently complicated, I heard some people use gnucash and similar things to do their bank stuff, though I don't know how much functionality is there effectively available on this stuff. I just know my own bank which is otherwise really preferable for being Swiss doesn't offer use of an "open" interface.
