I have used fbgs (in the fbi package) for some months, when I had no X available and didn't wanted to ``fix'' that. fbgs is not perfect but quite usable. Graphically, I still use xpdf, because it's already there, almost everywhere. Also, I'm able to do a lot of stuff with the keyboard after binding some keys in ~/.xpdfrc. But of course, it has its problem, IMO mainly in searching and zooming. meillo
