I asked around, found about a couple of very keybind maps using only Control:
http://www.wordstar.org/wordstar/history/wmvswscmds.htm Then again they do not implement the unix standard ^U ^W ^H, which sucks a bit. Also, WordMaster may be unfeasible straight up as the Return key generates ^J and all, but this might be another starting point.
