For anyone who wants to build the swig-py3 branch on the Mac: I created a custom Homebrew tap for the py3c library (unfortunately it's not "notorious" enough to be accepted into homebrew-core):
$ brew tap digiverse/p3c $ brew install py3c $ ./configure ... ... configure: py3c library configuration via pkg-config checking for py3c library... yes ... -- Brane
