I do not mind starting a separate VOTE thread on this spec change.

However, in Polaris I do not think that we _usually_ do that, IIRC. Do you
have examples from the past?

My recollection is that the usual practice is to have a discussion
thread on `dev` (like this one) and approve in GH. I do not mind changing
it, though, if the community agrees.
