Hi there!

4. it isn't possible to compare the results of Master build with CWS

Not true, tinderbox also builds masters.
New features to make this more visible have been integrated into EIS today. See corresponding feature announcment and mails on this topic in qa board.

I talked with the Gatekeeper and he told me, that he need a clear
statement, what should be done with CWSs where the tinderbox results
are not green (or only what to do when they are red).

For me a process that rejects CWS with "red" tinderbox build does not
meet these quality requirements at the moment. A new process like this
one must be formerly agreed on by *all* participants. And it must be
tested for some time (like we test our products) before it is rolled out
and made mandatory for all CWS.

IMHO one part of that to be defined process could be that development is able to just tell QA that they checked the log file and it looked to them that their was not a real bug but some kind of other problem and that they checked with buildbot that the CWS does build without a problem. In this case the CWS could be approved although the status is red and it eliminates the problem that tinderbox builds can not be restarted immediately, because buildbot builds can. Proving by a successful buildbot build that everything is OK now can also be an option if a fix has been applied for something that really was a bug, than we would also not need to wait for the tinderbox status to toggle to green again after that fix has been supplied.

Bye the way: Normal handling with tinderbox though as currently being applied by community developers if I did understand that correctly for build breaks that do occur already on the milestone is that in case of a real problem a fix is being created and a patch for that fix is integrated into tinderbox, tinderbox would than apply that same patch to other CWS builds on the same MasterWorkspace´s milestone also so that after a fix is available on the milestone tinderbox CWS stati of CWSs created from that will also turn to green on their next tinderbox build.

You are absolutely right here.

Thorsten

Bernd
