One. The circle R is there because Apache OpenOffice is a registered
trademark in the US and other jurisdictions.
Being registered and having “®” in the logo are two separate things.
There is no legal requirement or necessity to include “®” in the logo of
a registered trademark and, as far as I see, most companies that operate
registered trademarks do not include the aforementioned sign in their logos.

Having Apache present shows where the project is. We do have issues
with trademark violations and also who trademarks on variants one
example is OpenOffice.de which either simply republishes our software
or for Windows will also install unfriendly software that no one wants.
The things you’re mentioning here should be address elsewhere in the
documentation, not in the logo. The logo is there for clear and instant
/product/ identification. The product is OpenOffice, not Apache.

A better version in SVG would be great, but please don’t change the text.
I’m reaffirming my suggestion to remove “Apache” and “®” from the logo
for the reasons I’ve specified in an earlier email. We’d need to vote
for that, though.

Hi Corentin,
What are the reasons or arguments for the change?
I find the core of the current logo fine for aesthetics and effective for
communication. The only thing I’d change is remove the “Apache” and “®” from it, as
both these elements crowd the logo, weakening the focus, and ultimately break the
simplicity and modernity of the /initial/ logo (it was a stylistic regression to
insert them). Here’s a quick

Hi, I would like to propose a brand new logo for Apache OpenOffice. I don't not
know if I contact the right place. I wish that it be implemented in the next
minor version of AOO if possible, the 4.1.15. What do you think ?
Cordially,
