The 4.1.0 version should install in parallel to your 3.0 version. I suggest keeping both versions active for a little while until you are sure that 4.1.0 works well for you. There have been many improvements since 3.0 but it only takes one bug sometimes to cause a big problem. The latest version can still save in the .doc format and its native format is .odt.
