Do you think this needs "trunk"? Nothing under the "branches" has trunk

Advice?

This makes sense only if we wish to structure this area with the classic
"trunk/branches/tags" schema. Since I don't expect we will store code or
test versions under "branding/", I think we can start with no structure.
If
really needed (but I don't see any possible reasons now, since that area
is
meant to be used to archive approved materials) we can add the
trunk/branches/tags structure later.

+1. I don't think we'll be doing branching and tagging in this area.

OK, I did not supply "trunk". The newest image files are now moved to the
new branding area. More to come, and cleanup in web site area, etc.

It might be worth having some sub-directories there, with no files in the root.

I would leave the warning file in the root dir.

For example:

/branding/logo/contest --- have the final submission from ChrisR
there, including supporting files

/branding/logo/master -- have the final version of the logo here,
with a name like master-logo.svg. But no unnecessary other files.

/branding/logo/special -- this is where we can store the source
versions of special logos we do, like for International Mother
Language Day or Christmas

Are there other aspects of the brand that have artifacts that we need
to store? Maybe not now, but I could imagine having short video
titles that could indicate an official video on our official YouTube
channel, if we had one. Or an ODT document with our official letter
head. Things like this could fit into this directory structure as
well.

A chart showing the RGB values for the logo colors would be good to
have, as well as instructions for how to use/not use the logo. But
maybe that belongs on the wiki?

Finally, since this is a murky side of OpenOffice.org that has caused
confusion before, I wonder if we should have a /branding/records
directory where keep a simple text log of entities that have been
given permission to use the logo or related trademarks? Or is that
redundant with something Shane already does?

Good idea but IMHO this is better located in the pmc/private part of SVN.
