the point is whether this will

1. Increase dev participation
2. Provide a better user experience
3. Build on work already done


i am sure that we could argue either way that 1 and 2 could certainly
happen with this move. My doubts are with 3  - if the move to rpm was
done because more of the team there @ Intel know rpm then cool i do
not have a problem with that. The problem is that many 'newbies' @
maemo (who are creating cool apps b.t.w) are just starting to get the
hang of .deb packaging so they feel pissed
I hope that initiatives like moblin package creator can eventually
make this sort of issue mute but for now the fallout needs to be dealt
with IMO
