FWIW, The choice the Moblin team made was based on specific features. There is no way anyone can argue definitively that "deb is better" or "rpm is better" in the end, because you always compare apples and eggs.

The Moblin team made a choice based on _specific_ features that rpm had that deb did not. Perhaps that choice was wrong for other reasons, or currently surpassed by new features in deb packaging, but that does not matter now anymore either. rpm is working well for moblin.

As with any product plan, you make decisions as they need to be made at the right time, and sometimes it doesn't work out, and sometimes it does. I can assure you that everyone involved tries to keep their eyes and minds open about new stuff, even if it's going to be a shocker.
