Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks for your message. My belief is that the purpose of an issue
when it arises is to give us the opportunity to improve things.
I realize how difficult must have been all these things for you.

I would like us to have as a response to what happened a more action
oriented approach and actually bring to life better processes and
improve things, rather than endlessly get stuck in discussions about how
and why something was done in a certain way.

This is why I'll jump (below) to the action oriented part of your
message, Jacqueline, that could be titled as: how should we shape the
future taking the past into account.

Currently, most people and activities are focussed on marketing the
product. To rectify this imbalance, may I suggest that future
initiatives should include addressing the project/community so that this
is communicated to all stakeholders.
+1

For example, since reconsidering
"What do MarCons do?", I think it would be prudent to add:

* understand the structure and function of the Community Council
* knowledge of open-source and free software especially OpenOffice.org

For John and I to facilitate and assist those that wish to positively
contribute to the OpenOffice.org Marketing Project we need to be able to
provide guidelines as to how our project works beginning with how it
works now. If other long-standing members would like to assist with
documenting this, please let me know and we'll get underway perhaps
using the wiki. I thought to begin as a set of questions and answers
from which guidelines may then be drawn.

Thanks for this proposal. I am sure that each marcon has developed
his/her own method(s) of accomplishing this role (aside from the general
what marcons do) and would be extremely benneficial for everybody if we
put together our experiences and develop a common way for this job in
the project, with better processes in all visible aspects at the moment.

Myself as a marcon for Romania I am willing to contribute to this as I
feel there is more to come from marcons.
I cannot stress enough that at this stage of development and reach of
the OOo the product and community, marcons and *coordinated* local actions are becoming more and more important in furthering OOo than untill now.

Anybody else willing to join in this effort ?

I am happy to give freely to assist you to successfully market
OpenOffice.org.

Thank you for your efforts, Jacqueline.

Best wishes,
Cristian
