Even if this was true, it doesn't matter if its the industry standard.
The IBM PC with DOS was an inferior offereing to many other
microcomputer designs at the time but it was adopted because there was
an open hardware architecture and industry standard. The same is true of
ODF.

So do an upgrade for Office XP to make it compatible. OOo did this with
1.1.5 so why can't MS? They are not exactly short of resources to do it.
Why not give customers what they want rather than just try and lock out
competition?
