Yet to look at the patch but you shouldn't be passing zkController instance to 
the init. You might want to piggy back on what I'm trying to do in SOLR-7275 
i.e. read and pass the JSON/Map to the init instead of the zkController.
I'll provide more feedback once I have a look at the patch.
