Amit,
You have to do a few things to start with:
- Have a glossary of computer terms in Assamese
- Write and submit a locale file assamese in for OpenOffice.
http://khmeros.info/tools/
You have some data in http://unicode.org/cldr/data/common/main/as.xml
The locales -if you want to see examples- are in
http://l10n.openoffice.org/source/browse/l10n/i18npool/source/localedata/data/
- See if the fonts from the bengali configuration are also good for you:
If the first one in the list is available, it will be used, otherwise
the next, etc...
Mukti Narrow;Lohit Bengali;Vrinda;Tahoma;Lucidasans;Lucida Sans;Arial Unicode MS
If Assamese is somehow similar to Bangla, you can get the Bangla
glossary from Jamil, as well as all the Bangla translations, as an example.
Cheers,
Javier

Hi Amit,
Can you confirm if Assamese is displayed correctly on OpenOffice in
Linux?, The only characters that might not render or combine correctly
are the ones that do not exist in Bangla.
Cheers,
Javier
Hi,
Confirmed I don't have any problems writing in Assamese in OpenOffice on
Linux.
Regards,
Amit.
