2. You maybe right. However, given that you set a large enough young gen 
compared to the total heap size, I wonder what is the impact of nullifying the 
data. It will be worth doing a quick experiment to study GC patterns and 
confirm that it does help. The only downside of this approach is that it looks 
ugly.
