I personally think this is a really valuable addition. I recently added a similar feature to iceberg-python (PR <https://github.com/apache/iceberg-python/pull/2482>).
Rest Catalog implementations are a fantastic way to grow the ecosystem. Making the compatibility tests easy to run are one of the best ways we can simplify REST Catalog development for users.
