Dear Apache Iceberg Community,

As Apache Iceberg hits new levels of awareness and adoption, I wanted to
help continue to grow the community in a community enablement capacity and
have put together a proposal on how this can happen that I wanted to
present to the community, get feedback and move forward with
implementation. I have shown it to some people in the community already for
feedback and review, and look forward to contributing to the growth of the
Iceberg Community.

You can find the proposal document here
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sMe1DDOYV0-XmpDyA_f3MPsgqxDZ-TyA3kLkLf7NAZw/edit?usp=sharing>

My Asks:

   -

If you like the proposal to respond with a +1
   -

To leave comments in the document with any suggestions and feedback
   -

I want to encourage new local iceberg communities to create channels in
the official iceberg Slack so it continues to be the center of the Iceberg
Community. It would be nice to have a process outlined by which these
groups can create or request the creation of a Slack channel (since that
feature was recently disabled for general use). I’m glad to help implement
and create these channels for groups but I would need channel creation
   privileges to do so.

By providing resources for local community management and discovery at
icebergcommunity.com, we can further grow iceberg development, adoption and
community.

Sincerely,

--
