Hi Tim, It looks like the only HBase specific change made in HIVE-2748 (besides bumping the HBase version number) was a modification to the HBase test setup code, which I think means that 0.9.0 is actually still compatible with HBase 0.90.4. If it turns out that I'm wrong about this you might want to consider grabbing a copy of the 0.9.0 source tarball and backing the patch out manually. It's a small patch so this should be pretty straightforward.
