Socket timeout can be set at three levels: 1. transport level (socket for classic and channel for async) 2. connection and 3. individual request. when the response timeout is not explicitly set, the connection socket timeout applies. When connection socket timeout is not set the transport socket timeout applies (which is usually always to some default value).
