Hi Guys,
so I was waiting for a notification on the conference-mailinglist but couldn't remember getting the CFP opening notification. Just checked the website and could see that it seems to be open already. Papers have to be submitted till July 1st. I would like to encourage you to submit papers on Flex and Flex related topics. Ideally I think it would be good to somehow cut them in a way that they support other hyped topics. So if for example you want to submit a talk on developing a mobile app ... how about talking about a mobile app as frontend for big-data backend ... just a thought. The problem is that Apache doesn't select the talks. The linux foundation does and it selects the talks it thinks will attract most paying customers. So if we don't get a track this way your chances could be higher to get selected. If we however submit enough interesting talks, perhaps we could even get our own track, which would be a great thing. That's why I'm asking more people to submit talks. For those being hesitant because of the costs, you can always apply for the Apache Travel Assistance program. If you get selected, Apache will pay for flight acomodation ... and it's a lot of fun. I always like to remember my first ApacheCon with TAC ... it was a great time :-) I would suggest that those planning on submitting Flex Related talks step forward and write to this thread so we can see where there are gaps and we need to submit something for the full big picture. I am planning on submitting stuff for: - Building Flex Applications with Maven (Eventually Building mobile applications with Maven) - Building FlexJS Applications with Maven - Some example demonstrating BlazeDS - Frontend-tests of Flex Applications using Selenium / Flex Automation Was even thinking of some fun stuff with Justins IoT: - A mobile app showing the state of an actor on a mobile device and controlling some "blinky lights" from a mobile app both talking together using BlazeDS ... (Justin ... interested in something like this?) Would be cool If someone would step forward for (Some topics I think would be interesting and could attract some attention): - FlexJS - FlexUnit - Mobile (game) development - Charting solutions (eventually as frontend for BigData backends) - ... Eventually it would be an idea to work with the Apache Brooklyn guys to create a frontend/dashboard for their new and extremely cool Project (https://brooklyn.incubator.apache.org/) CFP Page ist here: http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/apachecon-europe/program/cfp Apache Travel Assistance Infos: https://tac-apply.apache.org/ CFP | ApacheCon Europe | Linux Conferences and Linux Events | The Linux Foundation Linux Foundation events provide a neutral collaborative environment to advance the state of the art of Linux and network and education opportunities in the technical, business and legal arenas.
