I do agree it is, umm, let's say not up to Python standards, but I was attempting to minimize changes to ensure this change gets integrated quickly. I can try and rewrite it if that's something that community is willing to accept. I'm not a master Pythonist by any stretch, but I do like to think I'm at least capable :D
