https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-12-22/atar-measure-privilege-not-academic-merit/11817974 This is Australian based so may use some educational terms you're not familiar with: HSC = Higher School Certificate (Year 12 high school marks) ATAR == University entrance score VET = Vocational Education and Training TAFE = Technical and Further Education (An alternative to university that teaches trades and the courses are more integrated with the workforce.) Also a lot of TAFE courses are free or subsidised by the government and can use used as an entry into university. What stuck me is I generally see education as easily accessible here, even for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Thanks, Justin
