Hello ComDev,

Some members of the Apache Solr Project are interested in having a LinkedIn
Group as a community collaborative forum to share various news /
happenings. There is already a private group named "Solr" and another
named "Apache Solr" that we might be able to convince the owners of to
share or relinquish admin privileges. We could also start a new group.
Questions:

* Is it a problem if the group is named "Solr" without "Apache" in the name?
* Is it a problem if the group is private; users need to request to join?
Of course we'd prefer a public group but AFAICT it's not possible to
convert a group's public/private aspect.

The "Solr" group has 6K members, and I'd be shocked if we could reach such
a figure if we start a new group or use the other one. Although we might
convince many to switch that are subscribed.

I would rather not create an official relationship between the project/PMC
and the group. Nonetheless, if the group becomes useful, we'd like to link
to it from the project website and vice-versa. Some disclaimers may be
needed.
