Rich Understood. In the context of the stated objective for an incubator track my objective view is that those talks center on the incubating project.
I dont have access to the other proposal. In the context of the community at large when there are projects that serve similar problem domains there is definitely value in that discussion. I'd love to see a few lightning chats for instance followed by discussion of true overlap, differing solutions, and how they can compliment. Either way appreciate this is a lot of work to coordinate and tough calls have to be made. We are new and want to get the word and message out. If not this round we will try next time Thanks Joe On Feb 18, 2015 11:59 AM, "Rich Bowen" <rbo...@rcbowen.com> wrote: On 02/18/2015 11:35 AM, Joe Witt wrote: > As an FYI there was a proposal I submitted which was about apache nifi > (incubating) (Apache NiFi: better analytics demands better dataflow). > That would be more in the spirit of a pure incubator track than #91 > which appears (from the title) to combine some information about a TLP > with an incubating project. > ok, put on your most objective possible mind, and look at the two talks, and tell me whether we should run one or the other, or both, in your opinion of what's best for the project and the event. Yeah, I know that's a hard call when you're one of the submitters. The question here is whether the talks are different enough that running both of them woulnd't be a problem. OR, if you can work with the other presenter to make the talks complement one another. > Thanks > Joe > > On Wed, Feb 18, 2015 at 10:19 AM, jan i <j...@apache.org> wrote: > >> HI. >> >> The content of Incubator project track is: >> >> #87, Introduction to Zeppelin >> #91, Integrating Event Streams and File Data with Apache Flume and Apache >> NiFi >> #112, Pulsar: Realtime Analytics at Scale leveraging Kafka, Hadoop and >> Kylin >> #183, Apache MRQL (incubating): Advanced Query Processing for Complex, >> Large-Scale Data Analysis >> #208, Introducing Apache HTrace: an end-to-end tracing framework for >> distributed systems >> #217, Apache Lens: Cut Data Analytics Silos in your Enterprise >> (WAIT-LISTED) >> #224, Apache Kylin - Extreme OLAP engine for Hadoop >> >> #83, Apache Incubator: where it is coming from and where it is going >> Would have been an excellent introduction talk, but it is scheduled for >> "community". >> >> If we schedule #83, for "incubator projects", #91 goes to WAIT-LISTED: >> >> rgds >> jan i. >> >> On 18 February 2015 at 15:47, jan i <j...@apache.org> wrote: >> >> Hi >>> >>> I have added a "incubator projects" track for 1 day (6 talks).
