Meanwhile I assume digester3 won't be binary or even source code compatible with 2.x so we'll need to provide Digester 2.x for the projects depending on it. Are you expecting to ever do a 2.x release again? In this case it would make sense to build from the 2.x branch, otherwise it would be easier to make the latest 2.x release available to the Ant and Maven 1.x builds and have Maven 2.x pull whatever the project POMs specify from the central repo.
