Hi, Cool project idea. I have a concern though. I believe there are a few free and open source Eclipse-based graphical statechart editors already in existence, including Eclipse UML2Tools[0] and Topcased[1]. Additionally, UML2Tools is based on the GMF stack. I was wondering if you could explain the relationship of your intended graphical Statechart editor to these projects. In particular, could you explain: 1) how these existing editors fall short of providing a satisfactory solution, and b) why it is better to develop a new GMF-based editor from scratch, as opposed to trying to improve these existing editors?
Thanks, Jake [0] http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/?project=uml2tools [1] http://www.topcased.org/ On Thu, Apr 1, 2010 at 11:01 PM, xunlong gui <ustbco...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Mark, > > EMF is just a Eclipse based data model framework, if we want to build some > graphics edition application, we can use EMF to edit our data model, but > only > EMF is not enough. > > In the first fews year, developers use EMF+GEF to develop graphics edition > application, but now, There is a good framework called GMF which include > EMF > features and GEF features, it is a excellent Eclipse based > Model-View-Controller graphics edition framework > > 2010/4/2 Mark Fortner <phidia...@gmail.com> > > > Just out of curiosity, wouldn't it be easier to simply create a SCXML > > serializer plug-in for the EMF, since EMF already supports state diagrams > > (in addition to all the other diagram types)?
