Github user snuf commented on the pull request: https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/152#issuecomment-91203299 @bhaisaab some people are afraid that the local log will not be updated (see pull request https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/140#issuecomment-89006232 and https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/145 for details), hence the sync. The problem however is that if sync hangs we're not happy campers. So @remibergsma puts the sync in the background that if/when the sync hangs we kick the baby anyways and it's tough luck for the sync (five seconds is an eternity btw but better than a real eternity). @remibergsma Yeah we could use the Ovm3 script, it's already changed to work with XenServer and I could add KVM. The thresholds do work a bit different and more accurate than previously, so I'd have to make it "backwards" compatible methinks....? so over time we could do that.
