I know I spend a lot of time beating this drum and you're all tired of hearing it, but I still think it's important.
Embracing the unknown sounds fun and easy, but we should keep in mind that services that we don't control - or as a minimum have a contractual relationship with - can just go away at any moment.
There are two things about Eric's proposal that I'm interested in. Obviously making projects easier to find makes them easier for everyone to participate in. But it would also be nice to have a list of stuff that's hosted by third parties that has become important enough that it should be backed up somewhere internal, preferably somewhere with disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Having to scramble to recover from data loss - particularly around source or bug tracking - is a miserable experience we should try to avoid.
