The patches in this bug have landed, and don't need backporting. All the relevant bugs have been resolved and there is nothing left to do w.r.t. this tree closure. And although the tree closure was annoying, we exited with (a) multiple leaks fixed, (b) some improved tests, and (c) improved shutdown leak detection. Not bad!
